Atlas about the Netherlands' first and only natural world heritage
The Bosatlas of the Wadden brings this special UNESCO World Heritage, the only natural world heritage that the Netherlands has, in all its facets and in all its beauty. From ice age to sand supplementation, from plankton to seal, from priel to salt marsh, from island dynamics to terpen and wierden and from nature restoration to tourism and international cooperation. Hundreds of maps, illustrations, and photos - from aerial photographer Karel Tomei and of the maker of the cinema film WAD, Ruben Smit - give a coherent image of this unique part of the Netherlands.
Nowhere in the world is there such a diverse and dynamic coastal zone that is constantly formed by wind and tides. The Wadden is one of the world's most important ecosystems. In 224 pages you will be taken on a journey of discovery through this nature reserve. The characteristic maps in forest atlas style show where walking islands, channels, sandbanks, migratory birds, seals, fishermen, shipyards, dialects, terpen, folk festivals and much more are located. And the clear infographics provide insights into duck decoys and the special underwater world that not only consists of flora and fauna.
The Wadden on the map, more complete than ever!
